Our Story
With Amanda Strijder, Founder of Style Warrior Interiors
Growing up in a house which my parents built, complete with interiors from the 1970s – gold velvet curtains draped in the lounge, bright wallpaper adorning the walls and orange leather dining chairs providing a seat to many at dinner parties – I was never going to shy away from colour!
As for many who find their way into the world of interiors, I found self-expression through decorating my own space. My early childhood bedroom was a homage to Ken Done – the bedspread, curtains, valance and pillows. Even at a young age, I knew the impact of colour in design.
Colour and art are still the guiding principles to my interior style today. Despite early ideas of becoming an architect, a tertiary path of B.A (History) and B.Com (Marketing) was completed and a career in marketing commenced. Time living abroad in London was followed by a new career direction, entering the world of logistics and production planning for large scale Australian and multinational companies.
However, an underlying passion for all things interiors needed to be explored - it was time to take that leap. I returned to study in 2011, completing a Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration, and knew I had found my life path. My inner musings for floor plans and fabric, layered with soft furnishings, artwork, unique finds and sentimental pieces finally moved from idea to reality.
